Episode 107: Barbara Vega
I am so excited to share this inspiring conversation with my friend, Barbara “Barbs” Vega, for episode 107! Barbs and I met through the dance team world, and I loved getting to hear more about her journey with dance and faith. Barbs is the Assistant Dance Director at Tomball Memorial High School and is the visionary behind Behold 2023: A Christian Retreat for Dance Directors, taking place in August 2023!
Born and raised in Mexico, Barbs shares her experience moving to California and then to Texas, and how she continued to pursue dance. We chat about how she ended up as a dance teacher and director, and how God inspired Barbs to create a retreat for dance directors! In our conversation, we talk about the importance of community, identity, discipleship, and how one small “yes” to God leads to the greatest adventure with Him!
You can listen to the show HERE, and you can be sure not to miss a Creative Impact conversation by subscribing through your favorite podcast app (ie. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher). About Barbs:
I was born and raised in Mexico, moved to California for 7 years, and then halfway through my high school career I moved to Texas! I have always been in competition dance or dance teams, but I first joined drill team late my junior year! I ended up going to Kilgore College to be a Rangerette (so last minute), and graduated from Texas A&M! WHOOP! I did marketing for a year before coming back to my roots of being a Drill Team Asst. Director! As far as my journey with Jesus, I would like to call it a resurrection story! I grew up in a faithful family but I was always lukewarm…which is the worst! My senior year of college I felt very convicted to know Him as a friend and needed to rearrange my priorities if I wanted to always feel this close to Him. Navigating adult life has been the sweetest and most fruitful experience with Him as my comforter and advocate. The Behold retreat has been His doing (The story is crazy how it all happened). I have been serving in ministry at my church for 4 years now, which has been the best part of my adulthood, and I am so excited to integrate it with the dance community!!!!
