Episode 72: Mallory Lara

Today, my friend Mallory Lara joins me for episode 72. She and I both attend Sugar Land Family Church in Sugar Land, Texas. Something I admire about Mallory is her authenticity and her willingness to share her story with others. Today, we dive into her faith journey as well as her experience as a hairdresser and visual artist. We talk about things like the difference between joy and happiness, walking through grief, how art can be a tool for healing, and encouragement for when you may be feeling a lack of inspiration as an artist.

May this episode be an encouragement to you wherever you find yourself today. As we discover in Mallory’s story–life is a journey–but we don’t have to go it alone.

About Mallory:

Mallory shares, “Just like the rest of us, I am a sojourner of this life. Thankfully, I’m not alone. I have the presence of Our Father guiding me, a sweet husband, and hilarious daughter to keep me on my toes as I try to navigate my shaky, baby deer-like legs through all of the various trials that get thrown at me. When I’m not building tall towers of blocks or doodling cartoons of Mickey with my daughter, Grace, I’m cutting hair. I’ve been a hairdresser since 2007 and I love bringing some sort of life back to the lifeless fiber on our heads! My mother used to tell me that when God was done painting me, he left the paintbrush in my hand. I’ve been drawing, painting, or sculpting something since I can remember. I’m still on the journey to find out what God will have me do with this gift. For now, its doodles!
